STILLWATER, Okla. (10/14/22) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team competed at ITA Central Region Championships and came away with four victories in contests played on the campus of Oklahoma State University.

 

In doubles play, Thea Rice and Sarah Millard teamed up to defeat a pair from Missouri 8-5 in the main draw. Rice and Millard came up just short to the No. 4 seeded pair from Iowa State 8-5 in the round of 32 matchup. In the doubles qualifying draw, Rebecca Brody and Abigail Thurmer came up short against a pair from Saint Louis 8-1.

 

Rice and Millard also earned victories in singles play. In the main draw, Rice won her opener against Mariia Pukhina of Bradley 6-2, 6-2, but lost to the No. 1 seed Thasaporn Naklo of Iowa State 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 64. In the qualifying draw, Millard won her collegiate debut over Reagn Miley of Oral Roberts 3-6, 6-2, 10-5. Millard was edged in her second match, 6-2, 6-3 by 19th-seeded Romary Cadenas of Missouri. Following a 6-2, 6-1 loss in her opener to Grace Chadick of South Dakota, Rebecca Brody bounced back to defeat Mary Houston of Missouri State 6-3, 6-1 in the consolation bracket.
