JONESBORO, Ark. (5/16/23) – Arkansas State women’s basketball head coach Destinee Rogers announced Tuesday the addition of Baylor transfer Kendra Gillispie to the 2023-24 roster.
Gillispie, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, is set to join the Red Wolves after spending the last two seasons at national power Baylor. The 6-1 forward appeared in 27 games for the Bears from 2021-23, including 12 last season as a sophomore with a start against Houston Christian.
“Kendra is a huge piece to the puzzle for us,” Rogers said. “We needed a dominant post presence and she brings that to the table immediately. I anticipate Kendra making an immediate impact for our program.”
In 2022-23, Gillispie shot 41.1 percent from the floor, averaging 4.0 points and 2.9 rebounds for the Bears, who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Oklahoma City native was one of the top prep players nationally in the class of 2021, ranking No. 58 overall in the espnW Hoop Gurlz Top 100, as well as the 10th-ranked forward. She played her first two seasons of high school at Norman High School and put up 20.8 points 13.9 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game.
As a senior at Harding Charter Prep, averaged 26.8 points en route to Class 4A All-State honors from The Oklahoman.
Gillispie joins transfers Cheyenne Forney (Denver), Emma Imevbore (Lamar), Wynter Rogers (West Virginia) and Bre Sutton (ULM), as well as fall signee Crislyn Rose (Sachse HS [Texas]) as additions to Rogers’ 2023-24 roster.
