JONESBORO, Ark. (5/21/19) – The Arkansas State volleyball program released its fall schedule Tuesday, which is highlighted by 12 home matches, including one home tournament, at First National Bank Arena.
A-State will open the 2019 slate at Belmont’s Bruiser Showcase August 30-31 where the team will face the host Belmont, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and North Alabama. The Red Wolves travel to Southern Miss the follow weekend (Sept. 6-7) to face the Golden Eagles, Mississippi State and New Orleans in tournament action.
The A-State Invitational (Sept. 13-14) will see the Red Wolves host UAPB, Stephen F. Austin and Rice. Both Stephen F. Austin and Rice were NCAA Tournament teams last season. A-State rounds out the non-conference schedule at the Virginia Tech tournament (Sept. 20-21) taking on the host Hokies, Charlotte and Chattanooga.
The Red Wolves open league play with road matches at Troy (Sept. 26) and South Alabama (Sept. 27) before returning for a four-game homestand. A-State hosts defending Sun Belt Conference champion Texas State on October 4. UT Arlington (Oct. 5), Appalachian State (Oct. 11) and Coastal Carolina (Oct. 12) round out the four-game stay at FNB Arena.
A-State faces in-state rival Little Rock on October 19 before heading to ULM (Oct. 25) and Louisiana (Oct. 26). The Red Wolves open November with a three-game slate at home against Georgia Southern (Nov. 1), Georgia State (Nov. 2) and in-state rival Little Rock (Nov. 5). After road games at UT Arlington (Nov. 8) and Texas State (Nov. 9), the Red Wolves conclude conference play at home against Louisiana (Nov. 15) and ULM (Nov. 16).
The 2019 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championships are November 20-23 at Texas State. A-State posted a 19-14 record a season ago and was a participant in the 2018 National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
