JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (3/6/23) – Posting a 36-hole total of 10-over par 586, the Arkansas State women’s golf team is tied for seventh among 17 teams at the UNF Collegiate played at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.
A-State turned in an opening round 10-over par 298, but an even-par 288 helped the Red Wolves surge six spots in the second round to a tie for seventh. A-State’s second round was just one of three at even-par or better. Posting an even-par round in the second round, A-State now has six par or better rounds on the season equaling the program record for a season set last season. Prior to last season, A-State had six such rounds in program history.
Sam Houston leads the field at 12-under par 564 with Furman second at 1-over par 577. Xavier (+4), North Florida (+6), Daytona State (+8) and Western Kentucky (+9) are ahead of A-State and East Carolina (+10).
Morgan Beaulieu paced A-State on the day with a 36-hole total of 144 (E). Beaulieu was 1-under par 71 in the opening round and followed with a 1-over par in the second to tie for 15th ahead of the final round. Casey Sommer is tied for 27th with a total of 147 (75-72) while Olivia Schmidt (76-73) and Elise Schultz (79-70) are tied for 42nd with a total of 149. Kayla Burke is tied for 58th with a total of 151 (76-75).
