JONESBORO, Ark. (6/9/23) – Arkansas State Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Jeff Purinton announced Friday that Taylor Hall has been named Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and NIL Initiatives.

Hall comes to A-State after spending the last five years working in the compliance office at the University of Alabama, including the last 14 months as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and NIL Initiatives.  After earning his Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law, Hall’s path to Jonesboro also included a pair of stops in the athletics compliance offices at Montana State University and The Citadel.

“We’re excited to have Taylor joining our executive staff,” said Purinton.  “Taylor not only possesses a strong compliance background and extensive knowledge about NCAA rules and governance, but he also has experience with risk management and has been highly involved with strategic initiatives during his career,” said Purinton.

“I had the opportunity to work with Taylor at Alabama, and his outstanding leadership and communication skills were evident while he was serving in multiple capacities.  In addition to providing great leadership within our compliance office, he has gained professional insight on NIL that will make him a great resource for our administration, coaches and student-athletes.  We want to welcome Taylor, his wife Annsley and their son Charlie to our Red Wolves family.”

Hall originally joined the Crimson Tide staff in 2018 as Compliance Coordinator before being elevated to Director of Compliance in 2019.  He was promoted to an assistant athletics director position in 2022, providing primary compliance supervision for Alabama’s 20 Olympic sports and assisting with compliance oversight for football recruiting and eligibility.

Along with his compliance responsibilities, including providing rules education and interpretations for NCAA and Southeastern Conference bylaws, Hall worked extensively with all Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) matters.  He served as the administrator for Alabama’s “The Advantage” program which was created to educate Crimson Tide student-athletes, equip them with the tools necessary to build and elevate their personal brands, and to provide external constituents with coordinated process for engaging student-athletes in NIL opportunities.

Hall also served on the licensing and NFT committees and helped administer the athlete agent education and registration process, as well as critical injury and disability insurance.  During his time in Tuscaloosa, he also spent four years instructing a “Legal Issues in Sports” class as an adjunct professor within the M.A. in Kinesiology (Sport Administration) program.

“It is an honor to join Arkansas State University as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and NIL Initiatives,” said Hall.  “I have great respect for Jeff Purinton, his leadership and the vision he has for the athletics department.  I am humbled and excited to join his executive team and build toward that vision together.  I want to thank him, and everyone involved in the search process, for this opportunity.

“I look forward to working with University leadership and overseeing the compliance department at A-State.  College athletics is in the midst of several changing landscapes, and I hope to be a resource for our coaches, student-athletes and staff as we navigate them together.  My family and I are thrilled to be a part of such an outstanding program and the Jonesboro community.  Wolves up!”

Hall went to Alabama after working as Montana State’s Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance for a little over a year.  While with the Bobcats, he supervised NCAA compliance for 16 Division I varsity sport programs and was appointed to the Big Sky Conference Legislative Review Committee and named chairman of the league’s compliance group.

The Washington, D.C., native began his career in athletics administration in 2015 at The Citadel, where he spent just over two years as Compliance Coordinator for the Bulldogs.

Hall earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia in 2014.  Taylor and his wife, Annsley, have one son – Charlie.
