BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (9/23/19) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team shot a combined 565 (-3) Monday at the Graeme McDowell Invitational to complete the 54-hole tournament’s opening two rounds in third place among 19 teams.
A-State shot a 286 (-2) and 287 (-1) for the first and second rounds, respectively, at Greystone Golf and Country Club. North Florida leads at -12 (564) with host UAB one stroke behind (565) for second. The Red Wolves lead the way among four Sun Belt Conference teams in the field (ULM, Troy, and Louisiana).
Senior Julien Sale led A-State on the day with a two-round total of 141 (-3) and is tied for seventh. He carded a first round 71 (-1) before closing the day with a second round 70 (-2). Senior Zan Luka Stirn and sophomore Luka Naglic are tied for 11th after a 36-hole total of 142 (-2). Stirn fired back-to-back rounds of 71 (-1) while Naglic opened with a 70 (-2) and finished the day with an even-par 72. Sophomore Jack Madden is tied for 53rd with a total of 152 (+8) while freshman Adam Thorp is tied for 61st with a total of 153 (+9).
