      SMYRNA, Tenn. (3/18/23) – Winning all five traditional matches, including a victory against host and No. 2 Vanderbilt, the fourth-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team improved to 10-0 at the Music City Classic entering bracket play Sunday.

      A-State (73-27) extends its win streak to 14-straight matches and has won 21 of its last 22 head-to-head contests. Like the opener Friday, the Red Wolves faced a tiebreak in the first match of the day and came away victorious with a 109-85 tiebreak in the traditional match against Monmouth that was deadlocked at 919. A-State followed with four-straight matches over 1,000 pins, beginning with a 1,146-954 triumph against Sacred Heart. No. 2 Vanderbilt was next on the schedule and the Red Wolves posted a 1,008-887 victory to move to 3-0 on the day. A-State closed out the day with a 1,003-787 win against Wagner and a 1,056-739 victory over Tusculum.

      Individually, Emma Stull led A-State with 1,100 pins for an average of 220.0 over five games played. Stull ranked sixth in the field, one of two Red Wolves in the top 10. Maggie Thoma was ninth with 1,094 pins for an average of 218.80. Faith Welch rolled all five games and totaled 1,031 pins (206.20) to rank 24th while Brooklyn Buchanan bowled five games totaling 957 pins (191.40) to rank 54th. Karli VanDuinen bowled four games totaling 717 pins (179.25) and Sarah Sanes had one game of 233.

      One of two teams to go 10-0 in head-to-head matchups, A-State ranks sixth in the team standings heading into bracket play. McKendree, also 10-0, leads with 10,606 pins with Sam Houston second with 10,420. Vanderbilt (10,394) and Louisiana Tech (10,367) are third and fourth, respectively, with North Carolina A&T fifth (10,066).

      The Red Wolves can finish as high as third at the completion of bracket play Sunday, beginning Baker best-of-seven competition against North Carolina A&T.
