NORFOLK, Va. (4/1/23) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis fell 4-0 at Old Dominion Saturday in Sun Belt Conference action.
A-State (1-10, 0-5 Sun Belt) dropped the doubles point with losses on court one and two. Sarah Millard and Sofia Vdovychenko were tied 3-3 in their battle on court one, but dropped the contest 6-3. Rebecca Brody and Yasmine Humbert fell 6-1 on court two to clinch the point for Old Dominion (11-4, 6-0 Sun Belt). Anna Borovinskaya and Abigail Thurmer were deadlocked 4-4 on court three when the point was clinched.
ODU grabbed a 2-0 advantage with Shahar Biran downing Brody 6-1, 6-0 on court two. The deficit swelled to 3-0 with Thurmer coming up short on court three against Alesya Yakubovich 6-1, 6-2. ODU clinched the match with Alexandra Viktorovich topping Vdovchenko 6-2, 6-2 on court three. At the time the match was clinched, Millard trailed 6-3, 4-1 on court one, Humbert trailed 6-1, 5-1 on court five and Borvovinskaya trailed 6-4, 1-0 on court six.
