    TROY, Ala. (10/7/23) – On Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Arkansas State football team dropped a 37-3 decision at Troy.

    The Red Wolves (3-3, 1-1 SBC) were limited to just 203 yards of total offense, while the Trojans (4-2, 2-1) racked up 587 yards – 351 on the ground.

    Javante Mackey and Justin Parks led all players defensively with nine tackles apiece, with Trevian Thomas recording eight tackles and a fumble recovery – the second of his career.

    Jaylen Raynor passes for 156 yards, completing 15 of his 27 pass attempts. Jeff Foreman hauled in a team-high four receptions for 76 yards.

    Troy’s Kimani Vidal recorded the game’s first two scores, a pair of 1-yard rushing touchdowns in the first and second quarter to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead. Vidal rushed for 247 yards on 28 carries with three touchdowns. Scott Taylor Renfroe added a pair of field goals, from 27 and 28 yards, to move the hosts’ halftime lead to 20-0.

    Renfroe added a 39-yard kick in the third quarter, expanding Troy’s lead to 23-0 after three.

    Early in the fourth quarter, Trojan quarterback Gunnar Watson connected with Chris Lewis for a 64-yard strike, and then Vidal scored on a 69-yard rush with 8:13 remaining to make it 37-0.

    With 3:51 remaining, Dominic Zvada put A-State on the board by drilling a 45-yard field goal, making him 7-of-10 on the season and 24-of-28 for his career.

    NEXT UP

    The Red Wolves resume conference play on Saturday, Oct. 21, hosting Coastal Carolina for Homecoming. Kick-off against the Chanticleers at Centennial Bank Stadium is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.
