NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (2/25/23) – Arkansas State women’s tennis head coach German Dalmagro earned his first win Saturday as the A-State women’s tennis defeated Arkansas Tech 5-2 indoors at the Burns Tennis Center.
A-State (1-5) swept the doubles point to take an early lead and put away the match with solid singles play. With the doubles lineup changed since prior in the season, Sarah Millard and Sofia Vdovychenko teamed up to win 6-3 on court one. Rebecca Brody and Anna Borovinskaya were the doubles squad on court two and took a 6-4 victory while Abigail Thurmer and Yasmine Humbert took a 6-3 decision on court three.
Humbert gave A-State a 2-0 lead in the match with a 6-2, 6-2 sweep on court six over Maria Krite. Borovinskaya made it 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Isabella Major on court three and Millard clinched the match in favor of the Red Wolves with a 6-2, 6-4 win on court one over Lea Grinberg. Thurmer fell 6-2, 6-4 on court three to Aastha Dargude. Vdovychenko took the first set by tiebreak, but fell on court four 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5 to Madalena Amil. A third set triumph by Brody set the final margin as Brody downed Daniela Baez 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 on court two.
