ST. CHARLES, Mo. (4/12/23) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team defeated Lindenwood 6-1 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup held at the Lindenwood Tennis Courts.
A-State (2-14) took the doubles point to get out to an early 1-0 advantage. Yasmine Humbert and Rebecca Brody played at No. 1 doubles and earned a 6-2 victory while Sofia Vdovychenko and Sarah Millard won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Abigail Thurmer and Anna Borovinskaya trailed 5-2 on court three when the Red Wolves clinched the point.
Millard gave the Red Wolves a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph on court one over Alina Jensterle. Borovinskaya made it 3-0 in favor of A-State with a 6-2, 6-0 decision on court six against Jordan Le and Sofia Vodvoychenko clinched the match with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Nawal Cheema on court three. Thurmer fell 6-4, 6-1 on court five to Eveline Nilsson, but the Red Wolves closed out the 6-1 victory with wins on court two by Brody (4-6, 6-2, 10-8) and court four by Humbert (1-6, 6-4, 7-3).
The Red Wolves return to the A-State Tennis Courts this weekend for the final two home matches of the season. A-State takes on Troy at 2 p.m. Friday and faces Georgia State at 11 a.m. in the home finale.
