JONESBORO, Ark. (9/15/23) – Arkansas State cross country is set for its second meet of the season – its second in Memphis – Saturday at the Rhodes Invitational.
The meet will be held at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis and hosted by Rhodes College. The day begins with the men’s 8K at 8 a.m., and the women’s 5K will follow at 8:45. Live results will be available here.
3 THINGS TO KNOW:
1. RUNNING IN MEMPHIS: Arkansas State is making its second appearance in Memphis in as many meets after opening the season at the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic on Sept. 2.
2. DEBUTS: Several of A-State’s newcomers took to the course at the Memphis Twilight Classic. Mary Beth Bailey finished 24th in her A-State debut, while Abbey Coberly, Madison Haldiman, Marizenne Jonker, Erika Krueger and Sophey Pope also made their first appearances in the Scarlet and Black on the women’s side. Jimmy Mann finished 18th to lead the men in his first collegiate race, ahead of fellow freshmen Benny Brenneman and Matthew Dunsworth.
3. PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS: Arkansas State was picked to sweep the Sun Belt Conference in the preseason coaches poll unveiled in August. Both teams received six first-place votes.
After Saturday’s competition, the Red Wolves return to action Friday, Sept. 29, in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Chile Pepper Festival.
