JONESBORO, Ark. (10/11/21) – Maria Jose Atristain Vega finished the first day of the Lady Red Wolves Classic leading the Arkansas State women’s golf team in fourth overall after 36 holes on Monday at the Sage Meadows Country Club.
The Merida, Mexico, native carded a two-round score of 2-under 142 (70-72) to lead the way and help A-State’s B team sit tied for fifth entering Tuesday’s final round.
The Red Wolves’ second squad turned in a strong opening round, finishing third with a 7-over 295. Atristain Vega led the way in the first round with a 2-under 70 to tie for third while Madison Smith was tied for fifth with a 1-under 71 after the first 18.
A-State’s A team enters Tuesday 12th overall in the team standings at 35-over 611 (304-307). Elise Schultz leads individually, tied for 19th after posting a 36-hole score of 5-over 149 (76-73).
